Restorative Dentistry in Rocklin, CA

Restorative dentistry focuses on correcting or restoring damaged, decayed or missing teeth. Whether your teeth have been damaged by trauma, decay, or disease, restorative dentistry can restore the health of your mouth and the function of your smile.

At Rocklin Dental, some of the most common restorative dentistry treatments we perform include fillings, crowns, bridges, implants, dentures, gum contouring, root canals, and more. These treatments address your specific dental issues and needs in order to restore your smile to its former glory. Using high-quality materials, your restorative treatment will blend in seamlessly with the rest of your natural teeth.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is performed by applying a tooth-colored resin material to the surface of the tooth in order to improve its appearance or protect its surface from damage. The material used for dental bonding is color-matched to the surrounding teeth so that it blends in and is unnoticeable. The material is then cured with ultraviolet light to solidify it and make it very hard and durable. Once in place, the bonded material is solid and natural looking.

This treatment is commonly used for patients with minor aesthetic teeth flaws, such as stains or chips. It is also used to protect the surface of a tooth that has experienced minor damage or decay.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth. Although there are several different types of bridges, they all use your existing teeth as anchors to hold the restoration in place. The false tooth or teeth between the anchor teeth replace the missing ones and restore your smile’s appearance and ability to function normally. Bridges can improve speech and prevent adjacent teeth from shifting out of place.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a cap that fits over a tooth to restore its function and appearance. It is typically needed when a large cavity threatens the structural integrity of a tooth. Rocklin Dental's state of the art technology can create crowns in house, on the same day of your crown appointment.  No more sending your crown to a lab and waiting two weeks to cement it.  Your crown will match the color and shape of your teeth in just a matter of hours.

If your crown cannot be made in the office, then your crown will be sent to one of our local dental labs that does fantastic work. During the first visit, the tooth is prepared by removing the decayed or damaged part of the tooth and, if needed, a small amount of enamel to make room for the crown. We will then take an impression of the tooth for fabrication, and place a temporary restoration. During the second visit, the temporary crown is removed, and the permanent crown is cemented.

Dental Fillings

A filling is a treatment used to restore a tooth that has suffered from decay, fractures, cracks, or minor tooth damage. The filling material is molded to fit the shape and structure of the prepared cavity and then hardened or cured with a special light to bond the material in place. After hardening, the filling will restore the affected tooth's structure, shape, and strength. It is important to remember that no type of restorative service is a substitute for a healthy smile! We encourage our patients to practice good oral hygiene to protect their smiles from the damaging effects of plaque and tartar buildup.

Dental Implants

Dental implants replace missing teeth's roots with a post implanted into the jawbone. Once the bone has healed, the implant can then be used to hold a dental crown, bridge, or denture in place. Dental implants are an excellent option for patients looking for a long-term solution for missing teeth, as they can last a lifetime with proper care. The benefits of dental implants include improved appearance, speech, and easier eating. In addition, they prevent the neighboring teeth from moving in towards the gap and help maintain the face's natural shape. Since the implants are fused to the jaw bone, they also help improve bone density and prevent premature aging.

Dental Veneers

A dental veneer is a thin shell-like device placed over a tooth to mask imperfections like chips, cracks, or stains. The veneer is made from various materials, including porcelain and composite resin. Dental veneers are custom-made to fit over the front surface of a tooth. For the veneer to work correctly, the dentist must remove some natural tooth enamel to bond the veneer in place.

Dentures

A denture is a custom-made oral appliance that replaces missing teeth and surrounding tissue. The removable full or partial denture can be designed to resemble your natural teeth closely and may even enhance your smile. Some patients choose dentures for cosmetic reasons. Other patients have oral health concerns and choose dentures to make it easier to chew and speak than without teeth. Unlike dental implants permanently anchored into the jawbone, dentures are removable. They must be taken off daily for cleaning and while you sleep.

Root Canals

A root canal is a procedure that treats infection in a tooth's pulp. The pulp is the soft inner core of the tooth that contains nerves and blood vessels. During root canal treatment, the infected or inflamed pulp is removed, and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected. Then, it is sealed to prevent future infections. A dental crown may be placed over the treated tooth to restore its appearance and strength. Diagnosing and treating an infected tooth early can help save the natural tooth and prevent the need for extractions and replacement teeth in the future.
